Ukraine Appeal

Following the distressing images on the Television of the conflict taking place in Eastern Europe showing many thousands of citizens of Ukraine fleeing from the conflict in fear for their lives, all they have are the clothes they are dressed in and what they can carry in a small suitcase.
The first donation
On behalf of Ukrainian Refugees, the District Grand Prefect made an appeal for monetary donations, this would allow the District to purchase basic items, which would then be delivered to a suitable collection centre.
Members of the District of West Lancashire within a week of the appeal donated in excess of £1500. The first consignment of assorted Toiletries, Nappies, Baby food with long sell by dates, other Baby products were delivered to International Aid Trust Collection point in Chorley.
In the week the goods were delivered to the Chorley centre, International Aid Trust, a charity based in Much Hoole near Preston has already despatched 4 containers to Poland, the manager at the collection point mentioned they hoped to despatch a further two containers later that week, he was extremely grateful for our donation.
There will be further donations of goods on behalf of the District next week. On behalf of the recipients of your generosity, who we will never know, can I offer my grateful thanks for your support. Thanks to Marc and Julie Goldsworthy for arranging the visits to Cash & Carry. Photo 710 The first donation of goods
